The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is hosting a free coffee/espresso stop and curator conversation, with complimentary advance admission tickets to its two upcoming PST ART exhibitions— Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema and Cyberpunk: Envisioning Possible Futures Through Cinema, both opening October 6, 2024.
Join Color in Motion curator Jessica Niebel and Cyberpunk curator Doris Berger for an informal discussion about their respective exhibitions at the museum’s Walt Disney Company Piazza with an espresso cart/coffee bar.
Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema investigates the role of color in film, from the scientific and technological advancements that made it possible, to its emotional and psychological impact on viewers, to the ways filmmakers use color as a storytelling tool. The exhibition will be on view in the museum’s fourth floor Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Gallery from October 6, 2024 to July 13, 2025.
Cyberpunk: Envisioning Possible Futures Through Cinema is an immersive gallery experience that will explore the cinematic language, origins, and legacy of Cyberpunk in connection with the societal and technological developments from the 1980s until today. Cyberpunk will be on view from October 6, 2024 to April 12, 2026 in the museum’s double height Hurd Gallery.
VIPs will enjoy a few moments with Academy Museum curators and gain a deeper understanding of the exhibitions’ themes from the historical use of color in film to the rapid advancement of technology that contributed to Cyberpunk’s global impact.
